Book Description:

July 2, 2003
Caiseal na gCorr is a small area in the Donegal Gaeltacht in the northwestern part of Ireland. It's an area made famous by the poetry of Cathal O Searcaigh. He was brought up in this area. The landscape, with its vast and rolling, windswept moors, and his cultural heritage, are frequent themes in his poetry. In this book, with black and white photographs by Jan Voster, Cathal gives us a personal account, through poems and interviews, of the places in the area that are closest to his heart. The book is a celebration and a documentary of a way of life that is fast disappearing. Voster's black and white photos seek to capture elements of the past whose traces remain nonetheless an indelible part of the landscape. This beautiful bi-lingual, Irish-English book holds a treasury of images from around this area and provides a fascinating insight into the landscape and heritage that inspires the poetry.
